Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to lead the data engineering efforts for the Sentinel program. The role is located in Roy, Utah or Manhattan Beach, CA, with a focus on building, deploying, and maintaining data pipelines to empower analysts and decision-makers.

You will mentor junior engineers, perform code reviews, and champion engineering best practices while coordinating with data visualization and product stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 12 years professional experience with Bachelors in Science; 10 years with Masters; 8 years with PhD or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree
• Must be a US citizen.
• Experience using various programming languages and tools for data science and data engineering; e.g., Python, SQL, Neo4j, Tableau, AWS, etc.
• Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining production-quality data ETL/ELT pipelines from various sources using APIs, custom code, and other extraction methods
• Experience handling structured and unstructured data and using database management systems
• Experience with distributed (cloud) data storage structures, local databases, and other data storage forms

Responsibilities

• Lead the data engineering technical lead role and mentor junior data engineers.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain data pipelines from authoritative sources for analytics.
• Collaborate with engineers, front-end visualization specialists, and stakeholders to enable decision-making.
• Oversee long-range and near-term goals for data collection, management, and transformation
