Job summary

Nextdoor is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to accelerate product experimentation and own end-to-end data science for features like Video, Groups, and Events. You’ll evaluate non-standard A/B tests, improve discovery, and connect insights across surfaces to impact the portfolio.

You will own data architecture for content data assets, work with Analytics Engineering to maintain source-of-truth tables, and apply advanced causal inference methods to distinguish true product impact from biases.

Qualifications

• Staff-level Data Scientist or Tech Lead experience in social media or consumer technology.
• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Statistics.
• Expert knowledge of non-randomized A/B testing, network testing, and advanced causal inference methods.
• Experience owning end-to-end product analytics, from identifying opportunities to launching features.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, and other partners.
• Autonomous technical leader influencing product direction via rigorous analysis and clear communication.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python with common data-science packages.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to support product development.
• Experiments: design and measure experiments to inform feature decisions.
• Develop strategic insights through exploratory data analysis to inform future investments or pivot in strategy.
• Build scalable metrics and dashboards to empower efficient decision-making.
• Participate in in-person Nextdoor events such as trainings, off-sites, and team-building exercises.
• Foster in-person relationships and contribute to Nextdoor's company culture.
