Job summary

Angi is seeking an exceptional Staff Data Scientist to build our agent suite for Pros. The AI voice and SMS agent contacts homeowners on behalf of pros, qualifies jobs, and books appointments.

The role spans agent behavior, evaluation systems, experiments, and models across the lead-to-job journey. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and operations to scale data-driven solutions, mentor teammates, and push innovations.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of data science and ML in tech/ marketplace settings.
• Experience with non-deterministic outputs (LLMs, agents, ranking).
• Expert in statistical thinking and experiment design.
• Able to read and categorize large volumes of real customer interactions.
• Proven track record of production deployment and maintainability.
• Proficient in SQL and Python; experience with cloud ML.
• Excellent communication with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead agent behavior improvements: conversation design, prompting, and campaign logic.
• Build evaluation systems for agent quality and experiments.
• Analyze real conversations to identify failure modes and prioritize fixes.
• Develop production-ready predictive models for qualification and engagement.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, design, and ops to scale solutions.
• Foster innovation and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Mentor junior team members and promote technical excellence.
