Job summary

ServiceNow is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in Platform Persistence to advance data lifecycle management within our AI-enabled platform. You will tackle scalable data storage, retrieval, and telemetry-backed visualization in a hybrid work setting with 2 days/week in office across multiple CA locations, including San Diego.

You will lead data-centric engineering, optimize concurrency and memory usage, and collaborate across teams to advance secure, scalable data solutions using S3, Iceberg,

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development with a degree; or 5+ years with MS; or 3+ years with PhD; or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Java programming and data structures/algorithms.
• Concurrency and parallel programming concepts.
• Working knowledge of databases, data modeling, and storage tech.
• Strong relational DB experience handling large data.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and service deployment.
• Distributed storage knowledge with S3 and Apache Iceberg.
• Cloud-based and distributed systems understanding.
• JavaScript experience beneficial for collaboration.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and guardrails.

Responsibilities

• Write highly scalable code focusing on concurrency and memory utilization.
• Contribute to data management strategies for scalability, efficiency, and security.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data-related initiatives.
• Explore data problems including data loss detection and recovery.
• Champion data best practices and security standards across the organization.
• Monitor and optimize data performance, troubleshooting and improvements.
• Stay current with data storage/management technologies (S3, Iceberg) and Kubernetes deployments.
• Use AI tools to solve data and distributed systems problems with guardrails.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
