Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. in the United States is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Data Platform (HL7/FHIR) to join our engineering team. You will build scalable software for Phare OS, focusing on pre-bill workflows and healthcare data integration.

You will lead technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, clinical, and analytics teams to deliver reliable, high-performance systems across cloud platforms. This role offers startup-level ownership with enterprise impact.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
10+ years of software engineering or data engineering experience.
5+ years in a technical leadership or thought-leadership capacity.
Hands-on experience with HL7, FHIR, Epic, clinical data, and healthcare environments.
Experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, GCP).
Strong knowledge of web services and integration technologies (XML, XSD, SOAP, JSON, REST).
Experience with CI/CD, testing, Agile development, and automated deployment.

Responsibilities

Define and maintain the roadmap for data platform initiatives.
Shape strategic technology direction and make architecture recommendations.
Mentor junior developers and lead by example in code quality and maintainability.
Collaborate with product management and stakeholders to estimate epics, features, and stories.
Script and maintain automated build steps, CI/CD, and staging environments.
