Slack is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Data Infrastructure team within Data Engineering. You will own design, development, and operation of secure, scalable data services that power analytics, ML, and data-driven decision making for Slack at massive scale.

You will serve as a Directly Responsible Individual for multiple core data services (Pinot, Trino) and drive improvements in reliability, security, and cost efficiency while mentoring other engineers and advancing observability

Formación

• 10+ years of software, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience.
• First-class communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience building and operating distributed infrastructure at scale.
• Strong big data / infrastructure tech background (EMR, Airflow, Pinot, Trino, Hive Metastore, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Bash, and SQL.
• CI/CD, Vault, Terraform, Chef, Grafana proficiency.
• Ownership mentality and autonomous delivery.
• Experience building agentic workflows and AI skills.
• BS in CS or related field.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and operate reliable and scalable data infrastructure powering Slack’s analytics, ML, and data-driven decision making.
• Serve as DRI for core data services on analytics infrastructure (e.g. Pinot, Trino), ensuring uptime, reliability, and performance.
• Drive improvements in security, cost efficiency, and developer experience across data infrastructure.
• Build automation and self-service tools for data workflows.
• Collaborate with data engineering, platform, and security teams to design scalable solutions.
• Enhance observability, monitoring, and alerting via Grafana and related tooling.
• Mentor and coach engineers, defining best practices and standards for Slack’s data ecosystem.
