Slack is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Data Infrastructure team to design, build, and operate scalable data platforms powering analytics, ML, and data-driven decision making. You will own multiple core data services, ensuring uptime and performance across compute and orchestration layers.

Formación

• 10+ years of software, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience, including data-intensive systems.
• Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Experience building, deploying, and operating distributed infrastructure at scale.
• Strong background with big data and infrastructure tech (EMR, Airflow, Pinot, Trino, Hive Metastore, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Python, Golang, Bash, and SQL.
• Proficiency with CI/CD (GitHub Actions), Vault, Terraform, Chef, and Grafana.
• Deep understanding of reliability, observability, and cost efficiency in infra.
• Hands-on experience with data pipelines or data engineering workflows is a plus.
• Strong ownership mindset and autonomous delivery.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and operate reliable and scalable data infrastructure powering Slack’s analytics and ML workflows.
• Serve as DRI for multiple core data services on our analytics stack (e.g., Pinot, Trino).
• Ensure uptime, reliability, and performance of compute and orchestration services (Airflow, Spark on Kubernetes, EMR, Hive Metastore).
• Improve security, cost efficiency, and developer experience across data infrastructure.
• Build automation and self-service tools for data teams to manage workflows.
• Collaborate with data engineering, platform, and security teams to design scalable, governed solutions.
• Enhance observability, monitoring, and alerting with Grafana and related tooling.
• Mentor and coach engineers, modeling ownership and operational excellence.
