MyFitnessPal is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to advance our data platform, pipelines, and governance. You will design high-throughput, event-driven data services, mentor engineers, and shape DataOps practices while partnering with product teams to solve complex data-domain challenges.

Qualifications

• 8-12+ years in engineering roles including 3-5+ years in data engineering at senior/architect/staff level.
• Extensive experience with Snowflake or similar data store.
• Experience with distributed and non-distributed data stores (RDS, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, S3).
• Advanced SQL skills with large-scale datasets.
• Experience with Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
• Experience writing high-throughput Python services.
• Experience with event-driven architecture (CDC, Kafka).
• Experience designing API patterns (REST, SOAP).
• Strong DataOps skills incl. CI/CD, source control, testing & validation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-throughput data services and pipelines.
• Evolve core platform components for scalable, secure data pipelines.
• Advise on DataOps standards, CI/CD, testing and validation frameworks.
• Define engineering standards and provide implementation guidance.
• Advance agentic AI development workflows and guardrails.
• Contribute to data governance and safe data access practices.
• Own cost efficiency for Snowflake and pipeline infra.
• Mentor data engineers and analytics engineers.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning infra, data services, and observability.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to solve data-domain challenges.
• Develop secure, governed data systems respecting data lifecycle policies.
