Job summary

Clarium is seeking a senior data engineer to set the technical direction for our data platform. You will own how data is modeled, moved, and trusted across the organization, impacting both systems and engineers.

You will work across transactional databases and an analytical warehouse, owning pipelines and collaborating with analytics, product, and engineering teams who depend on this data. This role emphasizes design decisions as much as coding.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data or software engineering experience, including end-to-end ownership in production.
• Expert-level SQL: write complex analytical queries and read query plans to optimize performance.
• Strong Python for production data work: pipeline code, transformation logic, testing, tooling.
• Deep experience with relational databases, including schema design, normalization, transactions, and tuning (Postgres & Snowflake).
• Hands-on experience with data pipelines/orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, dbt, Fivetran, Spark, or Kafka.
• Production experience running data workloads on AWS (S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS) with cost/security awareness.
• Track record leading multi-quarter, cross-team initiatives with ambiguity and influence.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and technical roadmap for core data infrastructure on AWS (ingestion, transformation, storage, serving).
• Design, build, and operate reliable batch and near-real-time pipelines with clear SLAs and observability.
• Model supply chain data from external ERP systems into a coherent warehouse model and migrate legacy assets toward it.
• Tune performance and cost across Postgres and Snowflake, including indexing, partitioning, and storage strategy.
• Establish engineering standards for data work (testing, code review, CI/CD, data quality) and mentor engineers.
• Partner with analytics, product, and engineering teams to turn questions into durable data models.
