Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Staff-level Data Engineer in the Product and Risk Data Engineering team. You will lead the development of high-scale data pipelines and data warehouses, partner with product and platform teams, and drive critical data initiatives.

You will mentor engineers, ensure data quality and SLAs, and collaborate across Stripe. This role offers autonomy, innovation, and a chance to shape data foundations at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building data systems, pipelines, warehouses, and leading teams.
• Experience with distributed data frameworks and data quality.
• Backend development in Scala/Java/Go with strong SQL skills.
• Strong collaboration with product and engineers to understand use cases.
• Extreme customer focus and ability to navigate trade-offs in ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical outcomes for a team of engineers, providing mentorship and guidance.
• Partner with recruiting to attract and hire top talent.
• Deliver scalable data pipelines that meet reliability and efficiency targets.
• Develop subject matter expertise and manage SLAs of data pipelines and full-stack apps.
• Collaborate with product managers to create canonical datasets and data warehouses.
• Leverage AI/LLM and agents to analyze data problems at scale.
• Drive key data initiatives from planning to delivery with high quality.
