Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the enterprise data and AI platform. You will design trusted data products, set architecture standards, and solve complex ingestion, transformation, and governance challenges.

You will remain hands-on while guiding multi-domain initiatives and partnering with senior leaders. You will shape the platform, establish AI-native design, and drive scalable data solutions across Finance, People, Privacy, and Legal,

Qualifications

8+ years of data or software engineering experience with SQL and Python.
Experience with dbt and cloud data platforms (Databricks preferred).
Proven ability to build scalable data systems and data products.
Hands-on experience with GenAI, LLM agents, or RAG architectures.
Proficiency in building interactive apps (Streamlit/React) and BI tooling.

Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable ELT pipelines and semantic models using dbt, SQL, and Python on Databricks.
Architect and contribute to a unified executive analytics portal with embedded analytics and AI insights.
Design and deploy conversational AI agents over enterprise data products with guardrails and RAG pipelines.
Partner with senior leaders across Finance, People, Privacy, and Legal to translate strategy into data products.
Define end-to-end engineering standards including IaC (Terraform), CI/CD, and data governance.
