Job summary

National Grid is seeking a senior data engineer to lead the design, development and optimization of data platforms as the utility digitizes its operations. You will drive complex data integration, analytics and pipeline automation across the enterprise.

You will rely on SQL, Python, Spark and Snowflake, with strong ETL and data-lake/data-warehouse concepts, and you’ll partner with cloud teams on GCP/AWS/Azure initiatives to deliver scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 7 years of SQL skills, Python and Spark, and experience with Snowflake.
• 7 years having experience with data lake/data warehouse concepts and data modeling concepts.
• Previous team leadership experience.
• Familiar with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Must bring strong experience with ETL processes, at least 7 years.

Responsibilities

• Lead perform complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer system application software for a large utility company that is digitizing and modernizing the grid.
• Lead architecture conversations and assemble architectural plans and artifacts for projects.
• Apply knowledge of technologies and platforms to convert requirements into business solutions.

What you’ll do

• You will lead perform complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer system application software for a large utility company that is digitizing and modernizing the grid!
• You will be seen as a leader of the team, and work on software design, operating architecture integration, and selection of computer systems. You will be a large part of architecture conversations, and must be able to own assembling architectural plans and artifacts for projects the org is taking on. You’ll be seen as a driver of system architecture outside of the team!
• You will apply knowledge of one or more technologies, and of one or more platforms and programming languages. (ex: Oracle CIS/Fusion, Alteryx, Tableau, Salesforce, MuleSoft/API, MQ series, JCAPS).
• In addition you’ll apply integration and custom development expertise in industry standard programming languages to convert functional and technical requirements into business solutions.

What you’ll need

• You will have 7 years of SQL skills, Python and Spark, and experience with Snowflake.
• You have 7 years having experience with data lake/data warehouse concepts and data modeling concepts.
• You will also bring previous team leadership experience
• You are familiar with any cloud platform GCP, AWS, or Azure is a huge plus and will be helpful in this role
• Must bring strong experience with ETL processes, at least 7 years. That’s the job!

Salary

$133,000 – $187,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
