Job summary

WEX is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the technical direction of its data acquisition platform. You will remain hands-on while guiding architecture, developing reusable ingestion services, and mentoring engineers across teams.

You will design batch, CDC, and streaming ingestion patterns, ensure data quality, lineage, security, and cost efficiency, and drive CI/CD and automated testing for ingestion code.

Qualifications

• BSc in Computer Science or related field required; MSc a plus.
• 8+ years software eng experience with distributed systems or data platforms.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java or Scala; data ingestion expertise.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain high-performance data acquisition pipelines across multiple systems.
• Lead design and delivery of a modular ingestion platform with reusable connectors.
• Implement schema validation, reconciliation, and audit logging in ingestion components.
• Support safe retries, backfills, and schema evolution with reliable recovery.
• Design batch, CDC, and streaming ingestion patterns with performance and cost in mind.
• Ensure traceability, lineage, and security through governance integrations.
• Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and maintain architecture docs.
• Establish automated testing and CI/CD for ingestion code and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with production support for escalations and improvements.
