WEX is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the technical direction of the data acquisition platform. You will stay hands-on while guiding architecture decisions, building reusable ingestion services, and mentoring engineers across teams.

The role covers batch, CDC, and streaming ingestion with a focus on data quality and cost efficiency. You will contribute to data platform transformation, enabling analytics and product intelligence across business domains while maintaining strong security,

Qualifikationen

• 8+ years of software engineering experience delivering distributed systems or data platforms.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, or other systems languages.
• Experience designing and operating production data ingestion integrations with schema evolution, observability, and secure access.

Aufgaben

• Build and maintain high-performance data acquisition pipelines across multiple systems and vendors.
• Lead design and delivery of a modular, configurable ingestion platform with reusable connectors.
• Establish metadata and configuration patterns to enable Data Acquisition as a Service.
• Incorporate schema validation, completeness checks, reconciliation, and audit logging in shared components.
• Support safe retries, backfills, and schema evolution to prevent data loss or duplication.
• Design batch, CDC, and streaming ingestion patterns meeting freshness, throughput, and recovery goals.
• Evaluate performance, source-system impact, and cost when extending ingestion technologies.
• Ensure traceability, lineage, and security through governance integrations.
• Lead design/code reviews and mentor engineers on platform design and implementation.
• Establish automated testing and CI/CD practices for ingestion code and infra.
