Job summary

Diamondback Energy seeks an experienced corporate attorney to support disputes, draft and negotiate commercial contracts, and coordinate with outside counsel. The role focuses on evaluating litigation risk and advising business teams on strategic decisions.

The candidate should have a J.D., active bar admission (in-house eligibility for Texas), and 5+ years of practice. Relocation assistance is available; Diamondback participates in E-Verify.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong credentials.
• Active state bar admission with in-house eligibility in Texas.
• Five+ years of law practice in a firm, government, or in-house setting.
• Ability to understand business operations and advise on litigation risk.

Responsibilities

• Support disputes and litigation matters, including pre-litigation investigations and risk analysis.
• Coordinate strategy with outside counsel and assist with discovery and deposition prep.
• Draft, review, and negotiate MSAs, IT and accounting agreements, leases, and other contracts.
• Provide legal guidance to departments on transactional and commercial matters.
• Manage outside counsel relationships and related legal services.

Job description

Job Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to

• Support disputes and litigation matters, including pre-litigation investigation and risk analysis

• Partner with outside counsel; coordinate strategy, gather documentation, and assist with discovery and deposition preparation

• Evaluate and recommend options for dispute resolution

• Respond to subpoenas and related legal requests

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of company agreements, including:

• Master Service Agreements (MSAs)

• Information Technology agreements

• Accounting agreements

• Equipment leases and other commercial contracts

• Provide Legal guidance to departments on transactional and commercial matters

• Assist in managing outside counsel relationships and legal services

• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
• Active admission to a state bar with eligibility to practice in-house in the State of Texas
• Five (5+) years law practice in a firm, governmental agency, or in-house
• Ability to learn and understand the business and operational functions of the Company in order to analyze and advise on litigation risk and assist in the management of litigation
• Demonstrated ability to draft, review, and negotiate legal documents effectively
