Job summary

Deepgram is hiring a Staff Conversational Designer to define how its voice agents converse—persona, turn-taking, repair, confirmation, and pacing. You will collaborate with ML and Engineering on endpointing and latency budgets, and build evals and reference experiences for developers building on the Voice Agent API.

This is a remote role based in Pacific Time, with a preference for candidates located in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• Experience designing conversational behavior for voice agents.
• Fluency with the speech pipeline from ASR to TTS.
• Ability to ship patterns for production use.

Responsibilities

• Define persona and voice system for Deepgram voice agents.
• Design turn-taking, barge-in, and end-of-turn behavior with ML and Engineering.
• Own latency-aware pacing and performance metrics.
• Build reference experiences and developer-facing guidance.
