Job description

Department: Institute of Utility Security and Resilience (IUSR)

Compensation: $90,000.00 to $100,000.00 annually

Location: On‑site in the Pavement Research Unit of the FDOT State Materials Office, Gainesville, FL.

General Description

The position reviews and analyzes large datasets related to concrete materials and rigid pavement performance. The role coordinates with operations staff to continuously improve pavement data collection, processing, and analysis through the use of emerging technologies that enhance the quality, reliability, and long‑term value of pavement materials and performance evaluation data.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze all concrete‑related full‑scale pavement testing and supplementary laboratory testing data.
  • Continuously review concrete‑related data to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate with the UNF Operations Team to support sensor condition, calibration needs, and other procedures to ensure reliable data quality.
  • Conduct advanced analytical or AI‑based techniques on concrete materials and performance data.
  • Contribute to database development, data reporting, data visualization, and data accessibility.
  • Focus on data quality control (QC) and verification of reported data.
  • Participate in designing experiments, developing test plans, identifying proper sensor types, modifying test tools, and analyzing data for research findings.
  • Identify research needs related to concrete.
  • Report analytical findings and final deliverables.
  • Implement and develop new technologies and infrastructure to improve pavement data collection, processing, analysis, and reporting with a focus on continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in concrete pavement research and design.
  • Advanced university degree preferred.
  • Clear communication and strong written and oral presentation skills.
