Job summary

Google's Staff Software Engineer position in Sunnyvale, CA seeks an experienced engineer to own outcomes in a fast-paced cloud networking environment. You will design distributed systems, implement production-grade Go/C++ code, and drive architecture across Kubernetes-based platforms.

You will mentor peers, influence technical direction, and collaborate with cross-functional teams while building cloud-native networking automation solutions for Google Cloud.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in C++.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design resilient, high-performance distributed systems and backend services for large-scale IaaS and container networking.
• Develop production-grade code (Go/C++) for Kubernetes components, controllers, and orchestration engines.
• Evolve software-defined networking, network virtualization, and data center connectivity for low latency and scalability.
• Improve reliability and performance with testing frameworks, telemetry, and fault-tolerant patterns.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical strategy with cross-functional partners.
