Job summary

The Laboratory of Allergic Diseases (LAD) at the NIH National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is seeking a Staff Clinician to provide direct clinical care to patients enrolled in LAD protocols at the NIH Clinical Center and associated outpatient clinics in Bethesda, MD.

The successful candidate will develop, implement, and manage clinical research protocols on allergic diseases, including food allergy and atopic dermatitis, and will mentor clinical staff and trainees to

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD required.
• Board certification by the ABAI.
• Permanent, full, and unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the United States, DC, Puerto Rico, or a US territory.
• Credentialed at NIH Clinical Center.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care to patients enrolled in LAD clinical protocols at the NIH Clinical Center and outpatient clinics.
• Aid in development, implementation, performance, and management of clinical research protocols for allergic diseases.
• Mentor clinical staff, fellows, nurses, and students to ensure proper conduct of protocols.
• Serve on the NIH Clinical Center Allergy and Immunology Consultation Service and participate in training fellows in the Allergy and Immunology Clinical Fellowship Program.

Staff Clinician

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest institutes of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and part of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), conducts and supports a global program of research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.

The Laboratory of Allergic Diseases (LAD) is offering a position as a Staff Clinician in clinical and translational research in the field of allergy and immunology. The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated clinician scientist who will provide direct clinical care to patients enrolled in LAD clinical protocols at the NIH Clinical Center and outpatient clinics.The Staff Clinician will aid in the development, implementation, performance, and management of clinical research protocols studying allergic diseases, including food allergy and atopic dermatitis in adults and children. The Staff Clinician will provide mentorship to clinical staff - including fellows, nurses, and students - to ensure that clinical protocols are properly conducted. In addition to providing comprehensive care for allergic diseases, LAD’s Staff Clinicians serve on the NIH Clinical Center Allergy and Immunology Consultation Service and participate in training fellows in the Allergy and Immunology Clinical Fellowship Program.

Qualifications

Required

• MDor MD/PhD
• Board certification by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI)
• Permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
• Meet the requirements to be credentialed at the NIH Clinical Center.

Preferred

• Strong background and interest in clinical research
• Experience performing oral food challenges.
