Job summary

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in the Immunopathogenesis Section of the Laboratory of Clinical Immunology and Microbiology. The fellow will study Mycobacterium abscessus pathogenesis and host–pathogen interactions, using transcriptomic, metabolomic, bacterial genomics and immunologic approaches. Mentored by Dr.

Steven M. Holland and Dr. Adrian M.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in microbiology or immunology required.
• Experience in genomics and/or proteomics/metabolomics desirable.
• Appointees may be a US citizen, Legal Permanent Resident or non-US citizen (visa requirements apply).

Responsibilities

• Join a team investigating Mycobacterium abscessus pathogenesis and host–pathogen interactions.
• Conduct transcriptomic, metabolomic, bacterial genomic, and immunologic analyses.
• Work under the mentorship of Drs. Steven M. Holland and Adrian M. Zelazny to advance basic research with translational potential.

Immunopathogenesis Section

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest institutes in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and part of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.

The Division of Intramural Research is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position in the Immunopathogenesis Section of the Laboratory of Clinical Immunology and Microbiology,NIAID, NIH.The successful applicant will join a team investigating mycobacterial pathogenesis and host–pathogen interactions,with an emphasis on understanding howMycobacterium abscessusevades host immune defenses andidentifyingstrategies to enhance antimicrobial responses.Theprogram integrates transcriptomic, metabolomic, bacterial genomic, and immunologic approaches to advance basic research with the potential for translation into clinical and diagnostic applications.

The research will be conducted under the mentorship of Drs. Steven M. Holland, an expert in primary immunodeficiencies and host defense against mycobacteria, and Adrian M. Zelazny, whose work focuses on mycobacterial diagnosis and virulence.

Qualifications

Highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D. in microbiology or immunology, particularly in host-pathogen interactions.

Experience in genomics and/or proteomics/metabolomics is desirable.
