Job summary

Burns & McDonnell’s Dallas office seeks a Staff Civil Engineer to join the Transportation Design group in Dallas, Texas. The role focuses on technical roadway design, route planning studies, and progressive design-build projects, collaborating with leadership and a multidisciplinary team.

The candidate will develop design criteria, perform calculations, and support QA/QC while maintaining client relationships and meeting project deadlines.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree(s) required with relevant experience.
• FE exam or professional licensure pathway described in options.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering techniques and procedures.
• Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines; organized.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design details, plans, and drawings to meet deadlines.
• Perform technical roadway design: alignments, profiles, intersections, interchanges.
• Support drainage, signing, traffic control, and illumination design.
• Develop design criteria, calculations, details, quantities, and cost estimates.
• Participate in QA/QC processes for project deliverables and submittals.
• Provide professional service to internal and external clients.
• Assist Design Department in achieving Transportation Global Practice goals.
