About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Staff Civil Engineer to join our expanding team in Pittsburgh, PA. The role involves working on erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management design, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, primarily for oil and gas and renewable energy projects. We serve clients across Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, offering a dynamic work environment and opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities
  1. Support civil site design, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, and project management tasks.
  2. Assist in engineering design, contribute to construction drawings, and provide technical support across projects.
  3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  4. Participate in field assessments, erosion control inspections, and surveys.
  5. Utilize AutoDesk Civil 3D for development of construction plans.
  6. Conduct hydraulic, hydrologic, and water quality assessments.
  7. Assist in permit applications, drawings, and CAD work.
  8. Coordinate tasks with technicians and administrative staff.
  9. Communicate with clients and regulatory agencies as needed.
  10. Ensure safety protocols are followed in field operations.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of civil engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, and civil site design principles.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Support in proposal development and client management.
Additional Information

We offer a full-time, permanent position with benefits and flexible hybrid/remote work options for candidates in the Philadelphia, PA area. The hourly pay range is $30.50 to $39.59, depending on experience and qualifications.
