In this position, you will be responsible for executing engineering functions within the Highway Occupancy Permit Unit (HOP) to guarantee that all submitted applications adhere to established standards, policies, guidelines, and timelines. Your role will involve assessing designs for new driveways to ensure they align with regulatory and engineering requirements. You will also conduct meetings with applicants, team members, consultants, and local authorities to discuss access to highway rights of way. Additionally, you will provide support to County Maintenance Organizations in addressing driveway-related safety concerns, such as issues stemming from water or ice buildup. Your duties will encompass processing occupancy permits, maintaining comprehensive records, managing associated fees, and preparing detailed reports. You will evaluate the necessity for security measures, including bank letters of credit, based on the scope of proposed work and engineering estimates. Moreover, you will review insurance documentation for permitted projects and provide training to staff on the use of various measuring instruments. Finally, you will assess the potential impact of proposed developments on adjacent properties and determine whether access or drainage releases are required.
