Job summary

Lyten is seeking a Staff Battery Management System (BMS) Engineer to design, implement, and test BMS software for lithium-sulfur battery packs. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and mentor a junior engineer while focusing on state estimation algorithms and embedded pack controls.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree and extensive experience in BMS development, MIL/HIL testing, and hardware familiarity.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering).
7+ years of experience in battery management system engineering (5 years with a Master’s, 3 with a PhD).
Experience developing BMS software and state estimation algorithms for battery packs.
Experience with BMS modeling and testing in Simulink, MIL, and HIL environments.
Familiarity with BMS hardware and battery controls (cell balancing, protection).
Knowledge of drone hardware/flight profiles is a plus.
Strong programming skills and ability to adapt domain knowledge to new chemistries.

Responsibilities

Develop state of charge, state of health, and state of power algorithms for lithium sulfur batteries.
Maintain embedded governing software for BMS controllers.
Lead integration of BMS hardware and software with battery packs.
Test and validate BMS systems with lithium sulfur battery packs.
Collaborate across teams through the product lifecycle.
Write and maintain technical documentation.
Participate in technical reviews and guide future BMS development.
Mentor a junior team member on BMS software development tasks.
