Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Staff BESS Structural Engineer to design structures and foundations for battery energy storage systems across US facilities, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver critical energy infrastructure.

Requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 5+ years of experience, PE license, and proficiency in 3D structural analysis software (RISA-3D, STAADPro). Hybrid work options with potential relocation eligibility are available.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
• Active PE license and ability to obtain/maintain regulatory credentials.

Responsibilities

• Execute structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare drawings for the design of supporting structures and foundations for BESS equipment and other energy infrastructure.
• Support fast-paced EPC projects generating project-specific specifications and assisting with procurement process.
• Supervise structural engineers (both in the US and in overseas offices) and work with structural technicians in preparation of structural drawings and specifications. Is responsible for leading production teams and serving as the responsible charge for projects.
• Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFI's, and review of contractor submittals.
• Perform project administrative tasks, which may include any/all of the following: preparation of design fee estimates, monitoring progress against budget and schedule, management of project changes, and implementation of Black & Veatch Quality Control requirements.
• Coordinate work with other discipline engineers.
• Lead the structural efforts on EPC projects with construction values of up to $50M
• Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies. Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards.
• Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines. Support continuous improvement efforts. Provide guidance and direction to others.
• Implement resource management strategy including managing resources for a small group.
