Job summary

Shield AI seeks a Batteriesystem mechanical lead to own all mechanical aspects of battery systems for X-BAT, the Launch and Recovery Vehicle, and ground equipment. You will oversee enclosure design, internal packaging, and integration, ensuring robustness and reliability across environments.

You will mentor engineers, perform tolerance analyses, and drive system verification from concept through to manufacturing release, in a fast-paced, cross-functional setting.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant experience with battery systems.
• Experience delivering battery power systems to market.
• Proficiency with mechanical engineering development tools, simulation, and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the battery system external enclosure, thermal management and environmental protection for X-BAT, the Launch and Recovery Vehicle, and all ground equipment.
• Design, develop, and integrate internal component packaging and retention, harness and connector integration.
• Tolerance, assembly, and serviceability analysis.
• Ensure system performance and reliability through rigorous system-level shock, vibration, ingress, and thermal verification.
• Root cause investigations of complex problems related to the mechanical package, environmental, manufacturing, etc.
• Provide mentorship, design review, and program execution leadership.
• Work in a fast-paced environment.
