Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience designing secure APIs, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWTs.
• Strong Go or comparable systems language background.
• Experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Redis or DynamoDB.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
• Responsible use of AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design, implementation, and operation of authentication and authorization capabilities.
• Build secure, low-latency Go and gRPC services across Coinbase platforms.
• Lead technical designs for tokens, passkeys, device-aware auth, and mobile OAuth.
• Collaborate with product, security, fraud, and infra teams to balance goals and constraints.
• Simplify integration patterns and build self-service tooling for teams.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and on-call participation.
