Job summary

Tilt is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer for NIRA in Bangalore. You will lead a core domain, shaping technical direction and driving end-to-end delivery within a credit platform.

Join a team blending AI-native engineering with scalable architectures, mentor engineers, and own critical incidents while collaborating with global partners in NIRA, Cashalo, and the US teams.

Qualifications

• 9+ years building web APIs, ideally in Java and Spring Boot.
• Deep experience with financial systems: state machines, complex lifecycles.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems and queue-based architectures.
• Proven track record scaling consumer products at high transaction volume.
• End-to-end ownership: design, execution, and reporting on your own initiatives.
• Comfortable deciding fast with incomplete information.
• A mentor who actively raises the bar for engineers around you.
• Genuine enthusiasm for AI dev tools, not just tolerance of them.
• Bias for simplicity over clever abstractions.

• Influence the roadmap: Shape product direction through technical tradeoffs, not just execution.
• Simplify systems: Cut complexity out of designs before it compounds.

THE OPPORTUNITY: STAFF BACKEND ENGINEER - NIRA

Location: Bangalore (Hybrid)

As a Staff Backend Engineer on NIRA, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of a critical domain within our credit platform.
