Job summary

Nortal is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer (.NET) to shape our cloud-native Azure platform and lead scalable backend design for US clientele. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and raise the technical bar while delivering secure, high-performance services.

In this role you’ll work across system design, database architecture, and cross-team collaboration to implement robust APIs, scalable data models, and trusted cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer science, Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional .NET experience with expert ASP.NET Core and C#.
• 3+ years of architectural ownership, designing scalable distributed systems.
• Deep Azure SQL expertise including schema design, indexing, and query tuning.
• Experience with Entity Framework Core and live-database migrations.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture, event-driven messaging, and eventual consistency.
• Security fundamentals including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and secret handling.
• Design secure multi-tenant systems and versioned APIs.
• Strong collaboration with Angular, product, and engineering teams.
• AI-assisted development tools usage in engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, distributed backend systems and microservices for a cloud-native Azure app.
• Build secure, performant services and APIs using ASP.NET Core, C#, GraphQL, and Hot Chocolate.
• Own Azure SQL schema design, EF Core migrations, and data isolation.
• Define patterns for messaging, transactions, and resilience across services.
• Lead technical decisions and establish scalable, high-quality standards.
• Apply cloud security practices across authentication, secrets, and API infra.
• Collaborate with Angular developers and product owners to translate needs into contracts.
• Diagnose production issues across application, database, and infrastructure.
• Mentor engineers and raise the team’s technical bar.
• Incorporate AI-assisted tools to improve delivery and code quality.
