Job summary

LVT in Seattle is seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer to drive the design, performance, and scaling of our core backend architecture. You will mentor engineers, elevate standards, and shape our cloud services while translating complex business requirements into reliable systems.

This role is based out of our Seattle office on a hybrid schedule, three days per week, collaborating with product, QA, and DevOps to deliver high-impact backend solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of backend software engineering experience with complex systems.
• 3+ years of production Node.js and TypeScript service work.
• OpenAPI/REST API design; GraphQL experience for queries/mutations.
• Experience with NestJS and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD).

Responsibilities

• Provide Strategic Technical Leadership for backend architecture and standards.
• Ship high-velocity, scalable Node.js/TypeScript services for core systems.
• Mentor engineers and elevate development practices across teams.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps to translate visions into specs and timelines.
• Identify root causes, optimize performance, and protect uptime.
