Job summary

Chainguard is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Customer Platform who will own API design and backend systems at scale. This role ships features end-to-end, collaborates with Product Management and multiple Chainguard teams, and mentors engineers while thriving in ambiguity.

The position is remote in the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada, with a strong focus on integration, entitlements, policies, and platform primitives that connect customers to Chainguard's secure software

Qualifications

• Strong ownership of API design and backend systems at scale.
• Experience coordinating across engineering teams to align standards and patterns.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity with diagnosis and path forward.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers without a management title.
• Familiarity with cloud-native environments such as Kubernetes and cloud APIs.
• Experience with entitlements, billing, or platform infrastructure is a plus.
• Exposure to AI-powered product features is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end from design to rollout and iteration with PMs.
• Design, build, and evolve backend systems powering entitlement and onboarding.
• Serve as technical interface between Customer Platform and other teams.
• Extend AI foundation into customer-facing product experiences.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
