Job summary

Pindrop is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Authentication team to guide Passport's cloud services. You will lead multi-quarter initiatives to improve reliability, scalability, and security, and mentor engineers while collaborating with product and research teams.

You will define architectural direction, drive complex migrations, and ensure robust observability. This role emphasizes ownership, ambiguity management, and impact across critical customer interactions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Staff-level impact across multiple services or domains.
• Strong hands-on experience with Go or Python and CS fundamentals.
• Deep experience designing and operating cloud-native systems in AWS or GCP, including S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, IAM.
• Proven ownership of highly available systems, including deployment, monitoring, incident response, and operational improvement using CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining or influencing technical standards, architecture, or roadmaps across team boundaries.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to document decisions and align stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical strategy and architectural direction for Passport's cloud services.
• Lead high-impact, ambiguous initiatives from design through implementation and rollout.
• Set technical standards for cloud-native services across AWS and GCP.
• Make tradeoffs around reliability, scalability, latency, security, cost, and time to market.
• Identify architectural gaps and mitigate risks before they affect customers.
