Job summary

XOXO AI Inc., based in San Francisco, is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, build, and operate production‑grade backend systems. You will own backend projects from concept through production launch, focusing on performance, reliability, infrastructure efficiency, and security across the development lifecycle.

You’ll work on distributed systems in the cloud (AWS or GCP), design scalable storage, and implement observability and tests to keep services reliable and secure.

Qualifications

• Distributed systems in production.
• AWS or GCP deployment, management, and scaling.
• Observability: monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting.
• Data persistence: Vector, OLAP, SQL, NoSQL, cache, Search.
• Algorithms and data structures with focus on retrieval/perf.
• Test harnesses for deployment/runtime failures.
• Strong ownership from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate backend services and distributed systems in production on AWS or GCP.
• Design data storage and retrieval using the right mix of vector, OLAP, SQL, NoSQL, cache, and search systems.
• Implement and run observability: monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting to keep systems healthy and performant.
• Design and implement comprehensive test harnesses that cover deployment and runtime failure scenarios.
• Own backend projects end-to-end: complex feature development, CI/CD + Terraform, stability, and security.
