XOXO AI Inc. is hiring a backend engineer to design, build, and operate production-grade backend systems. You’ll own backend projects from concept through production launch, focusing on performance, reliability, and security.

Based in San Francisco, this on-site role offers a compensation range of $250k–$500k plus 1–5% equity, top-tier health benefits, and opportunities to shape the interface of intelligence for everyday life.

Qualifications

• Designing and operating distributed systems in production.
• Deploying, scaling applications on AWS or GCP.
• Observability: monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Broad knowledge of data persistence systems (Vector, OLAP, SQL, NoSQL, cache, search).
• Strong algorithms and data structures with focus on retrieval and performance.
• Ability to design test harnesses for deployment and runtime failures.
• Strong ownership: take projects from concept to production independently.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate backend services and distributed systems in production on AWS or GCP.
• Design data storage and retrieval using vector, OLAP, SQL, NoSQL, cache, and search.
• Implement observability: monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting to keep systems healthy.
• Design and implement comprehensive test harnesses that cover deployment and runtime failure scenarios.
• Own backend projects end-to-end: CI/CD + Terraform, stability, and security.
