Job summary

Airbnb is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical strategy and hands-on development of an AI-powered Growth Engine for paid campaigns across Google, Meta, and other channels. You will architect systems that autonomously manage the full lifecycle of campaigns while maintaining safety and brand controls.

You will mentor engineers, partner with Marketing, Product, Design, and ML teams, and drive the roadmap from AI-assisted to autonomous, delivering measurable improvements in ROAS

Qualifications

• 9+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS or equivalent.
• Technical leadership with project teams and mentoring.
• Strong focus on efficiency, availability, quality and system reliability.
• Experience defining product/technical strategy and aligning with cross-functional partners.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.
• Bonus: paid advertising platforms experience (Meta/Google).

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for the agentic Growth Engine across paid channels.
• Write and review code, establishing standards for quality and system health.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Product and Design to translate growth objectives into platform capabilities.
• Advance the AI-assisted → agentic → autonomous roadmap with staged automation and risk mitigation.
• Mentor engineers and foster a collaborative, inclusive culture.
• Work with ML/AI and data teams to integrate signals for optimization.
