Job summary

TechTree is recruiting for a Staff Backend Software Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. You will set the technical direction for AI systems that automate insurance operations, and own the central evals framework and back-office automation pipeline.

The role is remote across the US and Canada, with a small team where individual contributions have outsized impact. You will lead architecture decisions and drive scalable backend services using Python and AWS.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating backend systems at scale.
• Tech lead experience on at least one major initiative.
• LLMs in production and what it takes to deploy them at scale.
• Strong Python, AWS serverless (Lambda, Step Functions) and PostgreSQL performance skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend initiatives across services, data models, async pipelines and evals on AWS.
• Set technical direction for LLM systems: reliability, cost, latency, evaluation and explainability.
• Lead architecture decisions and code reviews across the product.
• Partner with business and product owners on firm-wide decisions.
