Job summary

Wintermeyer Ventures in Alameda, CA, seeks an experienced autonomy engineer to design and deploy C++ software for autonomous maritime vehicles, working with onboard hardware and simulation tools.

You will integrate perception and planning algorithms, sensor data fusion, and localization while balancing performance and reliability on constrained compute, including Nvidia Jetson platforms, with Python tools for failure analysis.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in autonomy engineering or robotics software, with staff-level scope.
• Bachelor's degree in robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace, or defense technology.
• Strong C++ skills and experience shipping autonomy software on physical vehicles or hardware.
• Knowledge of autonomy algorithms including computer vision, sensor fusion, localization, planning, and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy production autonomy software in C++ for onboard vehicle systems.
• Develop and integrate perception, localization, state estimation, planning, navigation, decision-making, and collision/terrain avoidance algorithms.
• Integrate radar, camera, and other sensor data for situational awareness and path planning.
• Build and maintain local and global planners using maps and sensor data to guide routes and behavior.
• Balance accuracy, robustness, cost, latency, and reliability on onboard compute (NVIDIA Jetson).
• Validate vehicle behavior with simulation, testing, telemetry, and real-world data; build Python tools to investigate failures and improve workflows.
• Contribute to architecture and ongoing autonomy stack development.
