HavocAI in the Greater Boston area seeks a Director of Autonomy to lead the technical direction and execution of autonomy systems for maritime applications. You will mentor engineers, shape architecture, and drive real-world fielded capabilities across perception, planning, control, and multi-agent coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, CS, EE, ME, AE, CE or related field is required.
• 10+ years in robotics/autonomy/defense tech or related fields with leadership experience desired.
• Strong systems engineering and ability to make architecture-level decisions required.
• Experience with Linux-based development environments and modern software practices.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for autonomy systems across perception, planning, controls and vehicle-level decision-making.
• Define autonomy architecture, interfaces, development standards, and integration strategies across multiple teams.
• Lead tradeoffs on performance, safety, reliability, latency, and compute constraints.
• Drive field-ready autonomy capabilities from prototyping to deployed systems.
• Recruit and mentor engineers, establish rigorous design reviews, testing, and field readiness.
