Job summary

Gather AI is seeking a Staff Autonomy Engineer (Drone) to own the core autonomy software stack for its drone platform in production warehouses. You will lead perception, localization, and scanning pipelines running on vehicle-mounted embedded compute, shaping inventory data accuracy and reliability.

This staff-level IC role requires coordinating with hardware, deployment, and ML teams to ensure robust operation in noisy, dynamic warehouse environments and edge-case handling.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering on autonomy/robotics and production hardware.
• Strong C++ and Python; experience on embedded or resource-constrained compute.
• Hands-on experience with computer vision pipelines including camera-based detection, localization, or tracking.
• Experience debugging deployed systems with log-based diagnosis and field iteration.
• Staff level: able to set technical direction and own end-to-end system.

Responsibilities

• Own the autonomy software stack for Gather products, including perception, localization, and inventory scanning pipelines on vehicle-mounted hardware.
• Contribute to the architecture as the product scales to more vehicle types and facility layouts; document systems and plan revisions.
• Lead design improvements and testing; collaborate with hardware, field, and ML teams to resolve issues on deployed systems.
