Job summary

Gather AI is seeking a Staff Autonomy Engineer (Drone) to own the core autonomy software stack for our drone platform used in live warehouse environments. Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with substantial autonomy/robotics exposure.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python for embedded or resource‑constrained platforms.
  • Hands‑on experience with computer vision pipelines in real environments.
  • Experience debugging deployed systems with log‑based analysis and field iteration.
  • Ability to set technical direction and own end‑to‑end system ownership at Staff level.

Responsibilities

  • Own the autonomy software stack for Gather products, including perception, localization, and inventory scanning pipelines on vehicle‑mounted embedded compute.
  • Architect and guide the autonomy stack as products scale to more vehicle types and configurations; document and plan revisions.
  • Design and implement algorithms for robust detection, localization, and mapping in dynamic warehouse environments.
  • Collaborate with hardware, field deployments, and ML teams to diagnose issues using field data and logs.
