Job summary

Description of Work

This position is designated as Exempt Policy-Making under G.S. 126-5(c)(3) and is considered an at-will appointment.

The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a Staff Auditor II to serve on our Rapid Response Division to assist with various investigations and performance audits that strengthen accountability and enhance transparency and efficiency of North Carolina government programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team to plan and complete audits of a diverse range of topics and programs
  • Speak with auditees, agency management, and legislators to understand the programs under an audit
  • Conduct on-site fieldwork, including information gathering and interviews to determine:
    • Risks impacting the program under an audit
    • To identify processes and controls that mitigate program risks
    • Review and analyze source records, programmatic data, financial and program documentation, and/or systems
    • Documentation of results of work.
Salary Range

$75,000- $85,000
