Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center in El Paso, TX is seeking a Senior Staff Attorney to champion justice for immigrants by combining sophisticated litigation with client-centered advocacy. The role focuses on complex removal defense and coordinated impact litigation.

The attorney will supervise staff, manage a busy caseload, and collaborate with partners to advance immigrant rights. Fluency in English and Spanish is required, and local work in El Paso is expected.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate (JD) with active membership in good standing of any state bar.
• 3+ years of immigration law experience, with a strong track record in removal defense.
• Experience with federal court litigation, including habeas corpus, is a plus.
• Strong communication, organizational, and case management skills under pressure; deep commitment to social justice and immigrant rights.
• Language: Professional fluency in English and Spanish.
• Location: Must work locally out of the El Paso, TX office.

Responsibilities

• Litigation & Advocacy: Manage a caseload of complex removal defense matters, including contested legal issues and appellate briefing, before USCIS, the Immigration Court and the BIA; advocate directly with ICE on complex or sensitive matters; and may handle federal habeas corpus litigation on behalf of detained clients.
• Supervision & Mentorship: Supervise and review the work of legal assistants and interns as well as mentorship of junior staff
