Job summary

CHIRLA, a nonprofit immigrant rights organization, seeks a Workers’ Rights Staff Attorney to handle cases at the intersection of labor and immigration law. The role involves client intake, case management, and representation in labor-related filings, with opportunities for training and community outreach.

Responsibilities include evaluating relief options, conducting wage analyses, and collaborating with attorneys and staff to serve clients in Los Angeles and surrounding counties.

Qualifications

• Active attorney license in good standing with the State Bar of California.
• Strong interest in employment and immigration law and social justice.
• Ability to communicate clearly with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain own caseload and draft legal documents (memos, briefs, complaints).
• Communicate deadlines and case issues to supervisors and staff.
• Engage directly with clients, collect evidence, and file claims.
• Coordinate with labor agencies and opposing counsel as needed.
• Screen clients for wage theft and immigration relief options.
• Provide Know Your Rights trainings and public education.
