CAMBA Legal Services – Foreclosure Unit seeks a Staff Attorney to provide counsel and representation to clients facing foreclosure in Brooklyn. You will negotiate with lenders, perform client intake, and prepare legal documents to advance cases while staying current on foreclosure laws.

Ideal candidates have a JD, admission to New York State Bar, and a commitment to public interest work, with strong negotiation and written/verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Civil litigation experience is required and public interest work is a plus.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with vulnerable populations.
• Excellent negotiation, client advocacy, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel and representation to clients facing foreclosure proceedings.
• Advocate for clients in negotiations with lenders, servicers, and courts.
• Conduct client intake and assess cases for foreclosure prevention options.
• Prepare legal documents and research statutes and regulations relevant to cases.
• Coordinate with attorneys and paralegals to advance foreclosure matters.
• Stay informed about foreclosure laws and participate in training and reporting.
