Job summary

Lone Star Legal Aid seeks a Staff Attorney for the Clute Branch Office (JP# CLU 019-2026). The attorney will gather evidence, file civil lawsuits, draft pleadings, advise clients on rights, and participate in outreach to advance civil rights for low‑income Texans. Bilingual Spanish & English skills are preferred.

Minimum education includes JD and Texas bar eligibility or reciprocity; must handle a caseload and may supervise staff. Travel across Texas counties served is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Law School
• Licensed to practice in Texas or qualify for reciprocity
• Prior legal services or public interest experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Gather evidence and conduct civil lawsuits
• Draft legal documents and advise clients on legal rights
• Interview clients and witnesses; prepare for client representation
• Represent clients in court and before government agencies
• Engage in outreach and community education; support LSLA mission
• May supervise subordinate staff or volunteers
• Handle a full caseload, participate in evening clinics, and support community education
