Job summary

The State of New Hampshire seeks a Staff Attorney for the Division for Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) Legal Unit in Claremont, NH. The role provides onsite legal counsel and supports litigation across NH circuits and administrative venues.

The candidate will handle child protection matters, advise CPSWs and supervisors, and develop legal strategies in accordance with state and federal law. Competitive benefits and full-time employment are offered.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Member of the New Hampshire Bar Association in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Litigates on behalf of DCYF in child abuse/neglect cases and related proceedings.
• Represents DCYF in court, pre-hearings, and administrative hearings.
• Assists DCYF CPSWs in case preparation for litigation.
• Confers with DHHS staff, outside attorneys, and court personnel on DCYF cases.
• Provides ongoing consultation and training to ensure best legal practice for CPSWs.
• Acts as liaison between DCYF staff and Court personnel for timely communication.
