What You’ll Do

The Attorney assists the General Counsel in major activities such as contract preparation, legal review, research, operational and litigation matters and correspondence. This position prepares legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, contracts, initial and amended articles of incorporation, stock certificates and other securities, buy sell agreements, closing papers and binders, deeds and trust instruments for review, approval and use by the General Counsel. The Attorney coordinates the gathering of information from various departments in the preparation of contracts and other legal documents; reviews certain contracts and other legal documents to ensure necessary provisions are contained therein; and participates on and provides input to various Health System committees. This position has no direct patient care contact, has access to confidential organizational information and will function in collaboration with other department and organizational members.

Required Educational Degree: Juris Doctor (J.D.)

Required Certifications, From accredited law school and current Ohio law license.

Required Experience: A minimum of 2-5 years experience required with 5 years preferred with contract drafting and development and operational matters, preferably in a health care setting. Previous experience in working with a high volume of contracts or contract management system desired.

Reviews certain contracts and other legal documents to ensure necessary provisions are contained therein. Coordinates the gathering of information, materials, documents, reports and evidence as is needed. Assures compliance with Adena Health System policies, applicable laws, regulations and accreditation standards. Contributes to the ongoing development of the Risk and Legal team and the quality improvement process

Serves as a resource person to all managers in contracting, negotiating, process improvement, and service line development. Responds to customer complaints and inquiries in a timely manner. Develops necessary department-related reports and trending metrics to satisfy customer needs. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
