Job summary

NACBA in Las Vegas seeks an attorney to assist with Chapter 13 bankruptcy matters, including case review, proofs of claims, plan filings, and related pleadings. You will conduct legal research and analyze Trustee duties, debtor and creditor rights, and applicable laws.

Draft, review, and revise pleadings and motions; attend court hearings and 341 meetings; and communicate professionally with opposing counsel, court personnel, creditors, and debtors.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Nevada and U.S. District Court District of Nevada.
  • 0–3 years or more of practicing as an attorney.
  • Prior bankruptcy, debtor and creditor rights, or clerkship/externship experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in bankruptcy law and willingness to learn bankruptcy practice and procedure.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, judgment, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Professional, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume legal environment.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with Chapter 13 bankruptcy matters, including case review, review of proofs of claims, plan review, and other related filings.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis regarding bankruptcy issues, Trustee duties and responsibilities, debtor and creditor rights, consumer finance, civil procedure, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Draft, review, and revise pleadings, motions, memoranda, correspondence, and other legal documents filed with the Court and respond as appropriate.
  • Attend court hearings, 341 meetings of creditors and other proceedings as appropriate.
  • Communicate professionally with all parties to a case, including but not limited to, opposing counsel, court personnel, creditors, debtors, and other trustees, as well as internally with office team members.
  • Manage deadlines, case files, and assigned matters with attention to detail and responsiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to provide high-quality legal services in a high-volume setting.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom and willingness to learn case administration and court-filing systems.
