Job summary

Office of the Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee in Las Vegas seeks a licensed attorney to support Chapter 13 matters in a remote-first hybrid environment.

You will conduct legal research, draft and revise pleadings, attend hearings, and coordinate with opposing counsel, court personnel, creditors, debtors, and staff to ensure timely, accurate case handling.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Nevada and U.S. District Court District of Nevada.
• Experience as practicing attorney.
• Prior bankruptcy, debtor and creditor rights exposure preferred.
• Strong research, writing, analytical and verbal skills.
• Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Professional, team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Zoom; willingness to learn case management and court-filing systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Chapter 13 bankruptcy matters, including case review, review of proofs of claims, plan review, and other related filings.
• Conduct legal research and analysis regarding bankruptcy issues, Trustee duties and responsibilities, debtor and creditor rights, consumer finance, civil procedure, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Draft, review, and revise pleadings, motions, memoranda, correspondence, and other legal documents filed with the Court and respond as appropriate.
• Attend court hearings, §341 meetings of creditors and other proceedings as appropriate.
• Communicate professionally with all parties to a case, including but not limited to, opposing counsel, court personnel, creditors, debtors, and other trustees, as well as internally with office team members.
• Manage deadlines, case files, and assigned matters with attention to detail and responsiveness.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to provide high-quality legal services in a high-volume setting.

Remote-First Hybrid Work Environment

• The Chapter 13 Trustee Office operates primarily under a remote work model. In-office attendance may be required for training purposes. In-office attendance is required when conducting §341 meetings of creditors.
• Court appearances are primarily made remotely. In-person court appearances may be required based on the specifics a case and/or as ordered by the Federal Bankruptcy Judge.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law, and in good standing, in the State of Nevada and U.S. District Court District of Nevada.
• Current or prior experience as a practicing as an attorney.
• Prior bankruptcy, debtor and creditor rights, or applicable clerkship or legal externship experience is preferable.
• Demonstrated interest in bankruptcy law and willingness to learn bankruptcy practice and procedure.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, judgment, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Professional, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced & high-volume legal environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom and willingness to learn case administration and court-filing systems.
