Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) is looking for a highly-motivated and detail-oriented Staff Assistant for his Boston, Massachusetts office. Applicants must possess a professional telephone manner, knowledge of current events and issues, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with others in a fast-paced work environment. Primary day-to-day responsibilities include: answering telephone calls, greeting visitors, performing general administrative duties and other special projects, and staffing events (including on nights and weekends).
The Staff Assistant will also assist with immigration-related constituent casework. This includes managing a significant casework portfolio, liaising with federal agencies, attending meetings and events with stakeholders, conducting outreach, and some advance functions. Experience and/or interest in working with immigrants and refugees is strongly preferred.
